We're signing off for 2022 - and it’s been an exceptionally busy year at Norrsken.

Project highlights, Awards and TV Features..

We’ve completed just shy of 200 projects in 2022, including two Passive House schools, domestic Passive House projects, refurbishments, new-builds, extensions and barn conversions.

Of the Top 10 homes in Grand Designs’ House of the Year programme, two used Norrsken products. One of the Top 10 is Ravine House, an exceptional retrofit project in Sheffield that's also a three-times RIBA award-winning project.

Installations

We’ve installed our windows and doors in projects from the Isle of Man to Jersey this year, fielded our busiest ever two months of installations, and supplied projects from the North of England to the tips of Cornwall and Wales.

The Norrsken Team

A little closer to home, we’ve welcomed five new members into our brilliant team. Kelly, John, Jaqui, Tanya and Mike joined our Operations, Quoting, Customer Service and Sales teams in 2022. We notice the difference they’re making already, and appreciate their sterling efforts.

Commercial Passive Houses: this Passive House primary school used our P31A windows and S307A doors.

Passive Houses & Software development

A new Passive House space was launched on our website in November. This area is designed to educate visitors about the value of Passive House construction and make it easier for our clients to find, compare and refine their product choices for Passive House projects.

We’ve also overhauled our own internal quoting and project management software to streamline order processing, which almost halves the time taken to finalise an order.

Award winner: Ravine House received three RIBA awards in 2022.

What can we expect for the future?

2022 has seen an almost exponential increase in both regulatory and popular interest in energy-efficient building. Energy cost increases have prompted all of us to look more closely at the way we build as part of lowering our usage.

Regulatory requirements in the form of the Future Homes standard, RIBA’s 2030 Net Zero target and Scotland’s incoming near-Passive House requirements all go hand in hand with the philosophy we’ve maintained for the 11 years of Norrsken’s existence: take a holistic approach to the thermal envelope of your building. Capitalise on the benefits of thermally efficient triple-glazed windows and doors by creating a well-insulated, airtight, well-ventilated home.

So, in spite of the (not insignificant) headwinds the construction industry faces in the form of material cost increases, inflation and rising interest rates, at Norrsken we’re looking to the future with optimism.

We have confidence in the superb quality and performance of our products; the positive role they play in solving energy usage problems; and the diligence, care and professionalism which has earned our team and our company such an outstanding reputation in the industry.

We look forward to working with you in 2023.

With very best wishes,

The Norrsken Team
