Build-It Magazine has shortlisted our P31A triple-glazed alu-clad timber window for ‘Best UK Window 2021’ in their annual Build It awards.

WHAT ARE THE BUILD IT AWARDS?

The Build It Awards “celebrate all aspects of self-build and renovation – from the very best completed projects through to innovative products and outstanding service from suppliers.

Build It magazine’s annual awards scheme features over 25 categories, garnering hundreds of entries that cover every major aspect of a home building project.” (Build It Website) The awards are a great source of inspiration for everything from case studies of real-life self-build projects to high-performance glazing, cladding options and smart technology for your home.

The P31A is on the shortlist for the ‘Best UK Window’ Award for its superb thermal performance combined with a beautiful appearance and versatile design and specification options.

As thermal standards for new-build homes continue to rise - and with increasing proportions of self-builders conscious of Passive House standards and low-energy building – it is important to choose windows and doors for your home that meet stringent criteria for performance and comfort.

THE P31A – A LEADER IN THE WINDOW INDUSTRY

We are passionate at Norrsken about conserving energy. The P31A window has been designed from the ground up to be affordable whilst delivering incredible performance - made from sustainably sourced, slow-grown timber - and visual appeal with its streamlined, square-edged aluminium exterior.

The P31A window is a truly high performing triple glazed aluminium-clad timber window. Whole window u-values sit around 0.75 W/m2K and can be as low as 0.67 W/m2K. As is the case with any of our alu-clad products, its powder-coated aluminium casing can be finished in any RAL colour. Interior wood finishes are available in either natural stains or RAL colours.

The window can be produced either as a fixed or outward opening unit with various hinge options. Outward opening windows are particularly popular in the UK.

maximum Flexibility

With Norrsken, your order is completely bespoke, from the glass type and colours you choose down to the window mechanism. Hinge systems can be configured in several ways.

Looking for a traditional side or top-hung system? No problem. Above ground floor, where cleaning and fire escape access windows are vital, the fully reversible window comes into its own.

You can browse more of the many options available to you on our main window range page. The most popular hinge system is side hung with a built-in friction brake. This allows the window to be held at your desired opening angle by turning the handle.

SYMMETRY THROUGHOUT YOUR BUILD

The P31A window is crafted with the same frame dimensions as our range of doors allowing the window to be matched perfectly with either inward or outward opening doors.

It also comes in a timber only option (no aluminium cladding) called P31T.

Norrsken’s approach is to give the self-builder the best advice possible when trying to choose which products will work in their project. The P31A window has accompanying technical drawings freely available on the Norrsken website for download.

TECHNICAL AND OPTIONS

The window is PAS 24 tested and certified to comply with the UK part Q building regulations.

Incorporating a 48mm triple glazed argon filled glass package (average glass u-value of 0.53 W/m2K) into its 122mm deep frame the window achieves performance suitable for Passive Houses or any type of high-performance home.

The frame is designed to be as minimal as possible at only 26mm externally and 44mm internally. The opening sash is also slender at only 54mm externally and 46mm internally. This gives the window a striking appearance in a very competitive market.
