We're signing off for 2023 - and what a year it's been!

We've completed just shy of 200 project orders with clients in 2023 and installed about 170 projects - about 3 or 4 every week, on average.

The P31: Window of the Year

Our P31 timber and alu-clad window won Build It's Window Of the Year, the prestigious award from the UK’s leading self build and renovation body.

Already our most popular window, this versatile, durable model took the win from a shortlist for its superb thermal performance, beautiful appearance and versatile design and specification options.

Norrsken across the country

We’ve completed new builds, renovation projects, deep retrofits and commercial developments across the country. Seeing our windows enhance such a variety of buildings nationwide is always a highlight to look back on over the course of the year.

The current number one project we’re excited to work on in 2024 is the impressive St. Michael’s Centre, a mixed-use Residential development in London. More updates to come as the project progresses!

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

A standout project for us is Willen Farm, a stunning Dorset new build family home, which earned SIPS Structure company Ecologic the SIPS House of the Year award in the Build It Awards.

The project used our S309A and S307A triple-glazed French doors, S305T and S305A Entrance doors, S315A lift and slide door. It’s also a particularly beautiful example of our P31, the Window of the Year, in action.

The Norrsken Team

Closer to home, we’ve welcomed 4 new members into the wonderful Norrsken team.

Mark and Matt join our Sales Team, while Sergei and Ant joined our Norrsken Works Team. Feedback on their work is already impressive, and they join a culture of hard workers here at Norrsken.

We continue to train and educate our installers, small works team and technicians. Exams and training undertaken this year include:

John, our newly appointed Director and Technical Manager, aced his SMSTS Training with 100% on the exam!
4x Manual Handling Training
3x First Aid Training
3 x Asbestos Awareness Training
2x PASMA Card Certifications

As a Company, we obtained CHAS Certification, a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to safe working and operating environments. We’re delighted to be a part of the organisation.

Giving Back to the Community

We were key sponsors for the Art Unlimited International Art Competition, which attracted 458 entries from as far afield as Germany, Macau and Azerbaijan!

Congratulations to Duncan Park for winning the Norrsken Award for Best in Show for his Portland Stone Sculpture of a Horse’s Head. We’ve also enjoyed sponsoring football kits for Nick, a member of our Sales Team, and his son’s local team for the last 2 years.

ONLINE DEVELOPMENTS

We introduced a new web area dedicated to Resources designed to make useful pages, guides to Building Regulations and Technical information more easily accessible.

We’re in the process of developing exciting new content designed to make our product information more accessible, installation details easier to specify and architectural modelling with our products possible. Watch this space!

Looking ahead to 2024

The close of 2023 brings us one year closer to the Future Homes Standard’s rollout, and Net Zero targets for RIBA and, more widely, across the UK. A boom in energy-efficient construction - both for the planet and the heating bill - brings products like our P31, P41 and our range of alu-clad timber doors to the fore.

These changes in industry focus go hand in hand with the philosophy we’ve maintained for the 12 years of Norrsken’s existence: take a holistic approach to the thermal envelope of your building. Capitalise on the benefits of thermally efficient triple-glazed windows and doors by creating a well-insulated, airtight, well-ventilated home.

At Norrsken we’re looking to the future with optimism. We have confidence in the superb quality and performance of our products; the positive role they play in solving energy usage problems; and the diligence, care and professionalism which has earned our team and our company such an outstanding reputation in the industry.
